Welcome !
Hello friends!
Welcome to the "English Improvement Book-Club".
Since academic year 2005-06 we at D.T.S.S. Library run the English Improvement Book-Club. This club is only for the bonafide students of this college. After the annual examination, the library card of the student is lying with them unused. So for this book-club we use their library card & give them two colorful, picturesque English story books in a very lucid and simple language maximum for 15 days.
While reading these English story books, we make them to do some simple daily exercises for improving English as follows:
- Reading story books without looking at the dictionary meaning.
- Understanding the story.
- Listening to the English News on T.V.
- Looking and carefully listening to the pronunciation of the News-Reader.
- Viewing the English serials on T.V.
- Reading news on their favorite topics in English Newspaper.
- Writing at least one page essay on any topic on a fulls-cape size notebook without anybody's help, every day with date on it.
- Practicing Self-talk in English as many hours as you can.
- Talking in English with friends n family.
The main idea of this Book-Club is to learn a foreign language i.e. English, as we learn our Mother-tongue. In a very simple manner, without forcing to learn the Grammar first. Hammering English from here n there continuously. Speaking confidently with mistakes without any shame. Like how a child speaks his mother tongue with all mistakes. After that when he starts reading books in his language, he improves himself. Same technique should be used here to improve the English. As we go on reading books we can improve a lot.
So, dear friends, just try as per the suggestions and start speaking English fluently.
